چکیده

Abstract The paper presents a new modeling technique for accurately predicting the complex behavior of thin-walled open and closed section beams made fiber-reinforced laminated composite materials. is significantly computational-efficient compared to detailed finite element modeling. In this technique, complete 3D stress analysis problem consisting all effects their couplings systematically decomposed into 2D applicable beam section, 1D along length. capability not only suitable but also with solid, thick-walled sections as well thin/thick-walled in-filled To analyze any arbitrary cross-sectional geometry, (FE) model used solving sectional problem, while global load response solved by FE utilizing stiffness parameters obtained from model. proposed validated using experimental numerical results, which show excellent performance New results range are developed presented method against

An improved model for naturally curved and twisted composite beams with closed thin-walled sections

This paper presents an improved model for naturally curved and twisted anisotropic beams with closed thin-walled cross-sections. By introducing eigenwarping functions and expanding axial displacements in series of eigenwarpings, the differential equation involving the generalized warping coordinate and the expression for eigenvalues can be derived using the principle of minimum potential energy...

Non-linear behaviour of thin-walled open section composite beams in lateral stability

An analytical study along with a numerical investigation is conducted to determine the lateral buckling strength of thin-walled open-section I shape composite beams. Based on Vlasov-type linear hypothesis beam stiffness coefficients, which account for a cross section geometry and material anisotropy of the section, are obtained. In this study the axial and bending coupling terms ( A,, , A,, , D...

Linear Models for Composite Thin-Walled Beams by Γ-Convergence. Part II: Closed Cross-Sections

We consider a beam whose cross-section is a tubular neighborhood of a simple closed curve γ. We assume that the wall thickness, i.e., the size of the neighborhood, scales with a parameter δε while the length of γ scales with ε. We characterize a thin-walled beam by assuming that δε goes to zero faster than ε. Starting from the three dimensional linear theory of elasticity, by letting ε go to ze...
